A great prayer from our friend Matthew Howard, one of our American heroes in the United States Air Force ...

Father God, we come here today, undeserving of your grace, but thankful for your acceptance and love. We have yet to understand the depth of the favor you give us, both as Christians and Americans, but Lord we give you all the honor and praise for it. Father, we ask that you open our eyes to see the sacrifice that our military brothers and sisters have made for our freedom, that we never forget them, their families, or those whose lives have been forever altered so we can live freely. We ask that you keep the memory of their sacrifice true in our hearts and keep our actions true in honoring them.

Lord, we ask that you keep our hearts true to the truth, that the freedom You provide through them is merely a portal to the true freedom that You gave us when Jesus died on the Cross. Lord, we ask you to guide us and give us understanding of the true purpose of our freedom and we rebuke the devil’s plot to distort Your beautiful plan for us and this country. Lord, open our eyes today to see the marriage between American freedom and Christ's freedom. Guide us so we will stop divorcing the two and diminishing the power of their unity. Stir our hearts Lord so we will not sit on the sidelines any longer while history is being changed or forget those who have given all to change it.

Give us courage Lord to use the freedom our brothers and sisters have died for to help this country steer its true course and the freedom Jesus died for to glorify You in all we do; Lord we ask you guide this country back to You and the vision You have set for it. In Jesus’ holy name we pray, Amen.

The brother who prayed that prayer is the real deal ... it came straight from his heart. And, he sought the Lord for a long time to "teach" him how to pray.
