A word for the emerging generation (and those who love them) ....

Quote:
Then Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people. But when He saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion for them, because they were weary and scattered, like sheep having no shepherd. Then He said to His disciples, “The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.” ( Matthew 9:35-38 )

I've found myself really crying out to God today about this generation, about the harvest, and especially for "laborers in His harvest field." There are times, honestly, where I an almost overwhelmed by the burden of what I see.

While God is Sovereign and in control, He is also calling for His people to take action. But so many are caught up in distractions, apathy, and sin ... sin being, of course, anything that misses the mark.

As my friend Jamie Johnson says so often, "Young people are dying." I want to say so much more about that, and will at the appropriate time.

We've got to get into the arena ... to run to the battle as David did with Goliath. Apathy, passivity, and ignorance are for the losers and the soon-to-be casualties.

I am in a mode right now where I sincerely and urgently need "armorbearers" who will say to me, as pastor, what the Armorbearer said to Prince Jonathan: "Do all that is in your heart, I am with you."

A leader cannot be a "chaser," constantly looking around trying to find out where His allies are. While a good shepherd will certainly go after a "lost sheep," the model is for disciples to follow faithfully....and to learn how to make disciples also.

I want to know - need to know - who I can count on, front and center, enthusiastically. Where are the laborers?

"Let no one despise your youth, but be an example to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity." (1 Timothy 4:12)
