Dear Friends,
I wanted to share with you something I felt like God showed me recently. I hope this will be encouraging to you all.
It seems like every time you turn on the T.V or open a newspaper, someone is talking about “The Crisis.” Not only in the United States but here in Costa Rica and all over the world; you cannot escape hearing that we are all in one big crisis! Just the word alone can make you feel down and depressed.
I had been thinking about this and began to feel a little panicky myself. I began to ask the Lord many questions. “How are we going to raise all these children in the middle of a crisis?” I began to ponder all that was before me. I consider myself to be a really positive person, but somehow all this talk of a crisis was getting me down.
Then, just as I was feeling a little anxious, it seemed everything in our house began to break down. First, our stove quit working, and then our septic tank overflowed all over our yard and out into the street. Then my washer overflowed the day the men were ripping up our yard to put in a new septic tank! It was a mess inside and outside our house! Nelson, our oldest son, was running outside and inside trying to help me clean it all up! At one point, we both sat down and laughed to think how we ran all day cleaning and tending to repairmen in our house. (I have to say I have wonderful sons!)
I began asking the Lord to give me peace through it all. As I took my kids to school the next morning, after our hectic day, I turned on the radio. A pastor was talking about, of all things, “What is a crisis?” “A crisis is an opportunity,” he said. “How many great men and women have been made in a crisis?” I begin to think about those words and knew they were for me!
God works in a crisis – He does wonderful things. A crisis leads us back to Him and makes us change! So many stories in the Bible start with a crisis and end in victory!
Each one of the children living with us came to us because of a crisis. And God is changing them and using them because of their testimony of how God brought them through. So I have come to look at the word crisis differently and know that God will do all He has promised to do, crisis or not! I just have to continue to do all He has asked me to do, and He will see me through.
Recently Enrique sat down with all of the kids and we remembered why we gave our lives to God. Sometimes, life can get busy and we forget the reason we are serving, and that it really is all about Him.
We want to thank you so much for standing with us during this time. Some of you sent me sweet notes and I know you have been praying. Please continue to remember us in your prayers and in your budget this month. It really means a lot to us to have your love and support.
Love,
Enrique and Charlyn Mejia
