December 2009

Dear Friends,

We want to wish you all a very Merry Christmas! Christmas time is such an exciting time of the year for us, especially with all the children. This year is really special because we have three children who are graduating in December too. So it has been a very busy but an exciting time for all of us!

This past weekend, we had more than twenty-five children that we have worked with over the years, come over to celebrate Enrique’s birthday! It was such a blessing to have them all together. Each child has had his or her own struggles and battles to go through but we are so grateful for God’s faithfulness in each one’s life.

This Christmas we hope to be able to give out many gifts to needy children we work with. We also are planning to give out bags of groceries so they can put food on the table. So many people are in need this year and we hope we can make this Christmas a happy one!

I can’t tell you how glad we are to send you the video of the building site of the children’s home! One night Enrique and I stayed up late and put the video together. It is hard for me to put into words how we feel when we go out to the land or even watch the video. We are not just building a house but a home! We imagine all the little children who will one day live there and their lives will be changed forever. It is so exciting!

We have eight children who live with us now, but many weekends we have up to fifteen who stay with us. It can get very crowded and we just put sleeping bags on the floor and have a big slumber party. But in the new house we hope to have more room for all the children to come and stay. We meet children all the time who are lonely and have no one! It isn’t enough to give children food, although that is a wonderful thing; they need a home and a family. This is what God has called us to do-to build up families with strong Dads and Moms who are willing to open their hearts and homes to children who are all alone in the world!

We hope to eventually build six homes with house parents, and a soccer field where Enrique can have a place to continue his work with the boys and the soccer teams. We also want to build a playground and have a big garden where the kids can learn to plant and grow fruits and vegetables. This is a wonderful therapy for children. So as you can see we have very much to do, but we are trusting in the Lord.

The last few months I have reflected on God’s faithfulness. I am amazed by all that He has done in the children’s lives and in ours. When we received our first children we had no idea how we would support them and put them through school, and more. But now the older ones are graduating and we see how the Lord is working in their lives. We are so grateful! We could not have gotten this far without you! Many days I think of you and we pray for you because you are a part of what we do. Thank you so much for your love and support and please know you are in our hearts.

We don’t yet have all the money to finish what we have started, so please continue to pray the funds will come and we can soon have more homes for many more children. We do hope you have a wonderful Christmas and you will be blessed in the New Year!!
