Teaching single mothers to support themselves
Hidden Treasures works with many of the single mothers who seemed trapped in a situation of poverty. While Enrique and Charlyn are teaching them how to handle their finances responsibly, they are now beginning programs to teach single mothers to be more self-supportive. Hidden Treasures believes that this ministry area desperately needs further development.
Assisting in orphan adoption
Currently there is a moratorium for adoptions outside of Costa Rica. Hidden Treasures believes that this will someday change and it will be in a position to help facilitate adoptions in and out of Costa Rica. Hidden Treasures is building trust with many single mothers and young pregnant women as it ministers among them.
Building a school
Ultimately, Hidden Treasures would like to start a Christian school where the children they rescue can receive a proper education in a caring and rehabilitative environment.
Purchasing Land
Hidden Treasures is excited to have recently completed the 1st phase of establishing a children’s home. These pictures are of a 5 acre piece of property that Hidden Treasures has purchased just outside of San Jose. There is enough land here to build homes, facilities and a soccer field.
The land price was $150,000. Thus far, Hidden Treasures has paid off $115,000. The remaining $35,000 has been bank financed. It is difficult to obtain long term financing in Costa Rica so the remaining balance must be paid off by the end of 2007. Hidden Treasures plans to begin facility construction in 2008.
